Participate in the Conversation!
B.C. has a strong education system, but there is no denying that our world is changing rapidly. New jobs are constantly being created, and technology is changing the way we communicate and connect with each other.

We need to modernize the way students are educated so they are prepared for the world, not only as it is now, but will be in the future.  Join the conversation by clicking here

Parent Contact with Teachers
The local Association Presidents of the British Columbia Teachers Federation have assured the Board of Education that during strike action by members of the BCTF, all teachers are being encouraged to ensure parents are being contacted regarding student progress and achievement.

If parents have not been contacted by their child’s teacher(s) the District is encouraging parents to phone or email the teacher(s) directly for this purpose.

District 'Technology for Learning Plan'
Through the B.C. Education Plan (http://www.bcedplan.ca/) our province is committed to moving forward with the integration of technology for learning for students. As a District, we are looking at the needs of our students in their learning, and the role technology plays in meeting the needs of all students.

As we develop a District ‘Technology for Learning’ plan, we are seeking input from partner groups through parent and staff surveys as well as through student focus group discussions. We look forward to gathering ideas from everyone as together we develop a plan for moving forward.

We invite everyone to take the time to respond to our surveys. Staff surveys will be sent out through the District and Professional Organizations. Parent survey information will be sent out through DPAC and can be obtained by contacting your District Parent Advisory Council. We will be running our surveys electronically, but paper copies will be available for parents at each school if that is a preferred choice. Survey responses will be received until January 20 2012.

School District 8 thanks all our partner groups for their contribution.
